Admissions for Nursery
We are pleased that you are considering Aldersbrook Primary School as an option for your child’s education. You are very welcome to make an appointment to visit our school and see for yourself the exciting learning and interactive environment. Visits to the school can be arranged by contacting the school’s main office.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Aldersbrook Primary School is for children aged three to five and covers the early years of their education. Aldersbrook Primary School was the first maintained school in London to gain accredited status as a Montessori School. We work on providing an integrated EYFS and Montessori experience for children based on their learning, individual needs and interests.
Applications can be made when your child is 2½ years old. Your details will be kept on file for the next intake. The school only has one intake for September start - for September 2026 this means they must be born between the 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023.
Please return the completed form with proof of date of birth of your child (passport or birth certificate) to the school office, either by email to admin.aldersbrook@redbridge.gov.uk or in person.
The first round of offers will be based on applications received before 13th April 2026. Applications after this date are still welcome. If you have missed this round, you will then be considered if any offers are not taken. The first round of offers will be made in early May. Parents will be contacted to offer their child a place.
A place in our Nursery does not guarantee an automatic place in our Reception class. Parents have to apply via the local authority for admission for a place in Aldersbrook Reception class.
Paying for Nursery
All 3 and 4 year-olds in England are eligible for 15 hours free childcare per week, 38 weeks per year. At Aldersbrook Primary School this covers one of two sessions (morning/afternoon) per day, five days a week.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible for 30 hours free childcare per week. For full info, check the gov.uk website. If you are eligible, you can use this to cover two sessions per day, five days a week. You will still need to pay to cover the lunch session.
You will need to give us the 11 digit alphanumeric code gained from applying for 30 hours free childcare to prove your eligibility. We will ask you for this as part of the application process.
If you are not eligible for 30 hours free childcare, you will have to pay for the extra 15 hours per week, as well as for the lunch session.
15 hours only places
We offer nursery places for 30 hours a week (two sessions per day), and a limited number of places for 15 hours a week - usually these are for the morning session only.
