  • Safer Internet Day 2021

An Internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world

Safer Internet Day 2021 celebrates the amazing range of information and opportunities online, and its potential to inform, connect and inspire us, whilst also looking at how young people can separate fact from fiction.

The day will also look at the emotional impact navigating a misleading online world can have on young people and why it is important to create a supportive, critical and questioning culture online that encourages debate and discussion. We want to give young people the skills to support one another, and the strategies to spot and speak out against harmful and misleading content online.

In order to decide on a theme that was important to young people we spoke to them about the types of content they see online and found fake news and inaccurate content to come up often. Young people said they saw:

    • ‘I see a lot of Fake News content, a lot of fake celebrity gossip, fake gossip (general)’
    • ‘Adverts on webpages showing celebrities with extreme weight loss transformations.’
    • ‘Adverts and pop ups or even occasional messages from strangers.’
    • ‘People on TikTok making up news and conspiracy theories…’

We know that the issues of misinformation and ‘fake news’ do not solely affect young people, but that these issues do have a great impact on how young people feel about their time online.

We want to help equip young people with the skills they need to spot inaccurate content, which can sometimes be a complex task. Once young people feel more comfortable separating fact from fiction it is important that we then help them to take the next steps in helping to create an Internet full of trustworthy and reliable information. We invite everyone to join us, and Safer Internet Day supporters across the globe, to help create a better Internet on Tuesday, 9th February 2021 and throughout the whole year.

On Monday, 9th March 2020 our boys football team went to represent  Leyton Orient FC in the League 2 South Regional finals of the EFL Kids Cup at Swindon Town FC.  We played 5 games in the group stages; and qualified for the semi finals against Cheltenham FC.  The game finished 1-1 after extra time and we won the penalty shootout 2 - 0. The final was against the host Swindon Town FC for the chance to play in the famous Wembley turf.  The game ended 1 -1 after extra time.  The match was going to be decided by a penalty shootout. Our boys  didn't bulk under pressure and won the shootout 3 -1 to reach the finals. We will now play the winner of the League 2 North Regional winners. We as school are very proud of  the boys football team and Mr Hussain for this fantastic achievement. We wish them all the best  for the finals in May.

  • The Book Fair is back! 2nd- 7th December 2020

    Published 18/11/20

The Book Fair is back but not as we know it! We are pleased to share that we will be having the Book Fair visit Aldersbrook from the 2nd- 7th December 2020. Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, we have had to adapt how the Book Fair will be ran.

    How will it work?

All children will be sent home with an order from. Parents/Carers will be emailed a pre browse catalogue of all the books that will available.

If you would like to order a book, you will need to complete the order form, pay via the phone number on the sheet and then return the form to your child's class teacher. All order forms will need to be returned by Monday 30th November.

The book/s will then be given to your child to take home ( This may take up to a week whilst all orders are processed so please be patient).

Unfortunately, we will not be allowed to let adults/children look at the books in school like usual so please spend time looking at them with your child using the pre browse catalogue which is attached below.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Miss Warwick- Baker
