Our school Parliament were very lucky and had a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. Our local MP, John Cryer, took us on this tour. He told us about the history of the building, told us some really interesting stories and showed us the Golden Throne the Queen sits on! We looked at a lot of different portraits, busts and sculptures of historical figures including the Duke of Edinburgh, Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill. It was a great day and we really enjoyed learning about all the funny rules and traditions that Parliament has. We cam away from our trip having a better understanding and appreciation of our British History and Democracy.
